 Bio

Background Information

I am a 21 year old advanced special student studying intelligence analysis at the University of Maryland. I graduated from Clemson University with a BA in psychology (emphasis: clinical) and sociology (emphasis: criminal justice) in May 2009. At Clemson, I was involved in psychology club, NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), and Clemson Philanthropy and Service Council. I served as the president of NAMI during the 2008-2009 year.

Research Interests

I am an intern with CAPER working on the teen smoking study under the supervision of Dr. Laura MacPherson and Whitney Francis. I spent two years at Clemson doing qualitative research on African American youth identity development under the supervision of Dr. Marie Nix. I am highly interested in research regarding psychopathology, including the development of personality disorders, substance abuse problems, and sexual disorders. I want to enter a graduate program in fall 2011 to pursue a doctoral degree in either clinical or forensic psychology.

Personal Interests

Outside of the lab I am seeking additional experience that will help prepare me for graduate school. I enjoy meeting new people, reading, traveling, and playing dodge ball.
