 Bio

Background Information

I am currently a fourth year graduate student in the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Massachusetts Boston. I received my BA in Psychology from Tufts University in May 2000. After graduating, I spent 2 years working as a research coordinator in the Psychiatry Department at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA, working primarily on a longitudinal investigation of the efficacy of a patient-centered, early intervention designed to prevent the development of PTSD among survivors of recent traumatic injuries. Subsequently I completed a Master of Public Health degree from Boston University in May 2005, concentrating in Epidemiology. During the 2008-2009 academic year, I will be working part-time at the CAPER lab.

Research Interests

I am currently interested in understanding the role and function of emotion regulation in response to traumatic or stressful life events among underserved, diverse populations. My masters project was focused on understanding emotion regulation across adolescent and early adult development among a racially and ethnically diverse group of individuals who identify with working class backgrounds. Other interests include acceptance and mindfulness based behavioral treatments, specifically the appropriateness of such treatments with diverse and underserved populations; identifying the resilient ways that individuals cope with traumatic or stressful life events; and exploring emotional development in immigrant families.
