 Bio

Background Information

I graduated in May 2008 with a B.S. with honors in Psychology from the University of Maryland, College Park. Currently, I am a full-time research assistant at CAPER working on several different research projects. Mainly, I serve as a project coordinator for a longitudinal project which assesses behavioral, genetic, and family emotional climate predictors of HIV-infection in a community sample of adolescents. In addition, I work with the Stress, Health, and Addictions Research Program in the School of Public Health as a therapist in a treatment outcome study examining the effectiveness of a brief behavioral activation treatment aimed to reduce depressive symptomatology and increase medication adherence for depressed, HIV positive substance users currently in residential substance use treatment. As an undergraduate I completed and defended my honors thesis which examined the relationship between parent and adolescent risk taking using the Balloon Analogue Risk Task (BART), a behavioral task designed to measure risk-taking propensity. I was also able to work on this project in the summer of 2007 when I was awarded the Senior Summer Scholars Grant. Currently I am in the process of applying to clinical psychology graduate programs for admission in Fall 2010.

Research Interests

My current research interests revolve around the influence of attachment processes in various domains. Specifically, I am interested in exploring the role of attachment in the development of psychopathology and also in the formation and maintenance of adult romantic relationships.
