Background Information

I am a senior Government and Politics major who has a growing interest in psychology. My first research experiences have been in the Government and Politics department; last year I received High Honors for a thesis on panethnic identity and community strength. I have been working in the CAPER lab since January 2007. My major project for CAPER has been a study of the association that crack cocaine users have between past traumatic experiences and substance use. I am also a counselor at the Help Center, UMD’s peer counseling and crisis intervention hotline (301-314-HELP).

Research Interests

I am very interested in social identities and how they can affect an individual’s mental health. In addition, I am interested in psychological services for underserved populations.
