Background Info
I am a first-year student working under Dr. Kim Gratz and Dr. Carl Lejuez. I received my BA in Psychology and Feminist, Gender and Sexuality Studies from Cornell University in 2005. From 2004 to 2007, I worked as a research assistant and study coordinator for Dr. Janis Whitlock, director of Cornell’s Research Program on Self-Injurious Behavior. I studied the emergence of virtual communities of self-harmers and the role of identity formation and support provision in that context.
Research Interests
My research interests include the mechanisms involved in the cessation of deliberate self-harm among people with and without borderline personality disorder. Specifically, I hope to examine whether people who have stopped engaging in deliberate self-harm continue to struggle with high degrees of emotional dysregulation and, if this is the case, alternate strategies or behaviors they use to manage emotional intensity.
